On the Sadies' embryonic debut, each song seems to ask a different question: are we the second coming of Shadowy Men On a Shadowy Planet? Are we garage punks? Are we outlaw country rockers? Are we some bizarre spaghetti western house band? So yeah, Precious Moments doesn't possess the cohesion of later releases, but this doesn't prevent the Sadies from playing their butts off. Although the band grew up in the age of indie, their musicianship and craft harken back to the Band and the Byrds.
