Signed to San Francisco's Om Records, James is no stranger to deep-house remixes and Ibiza compilations, but her low-lit, slow-grooving style has as much to do with artists like Seal. The granddaughter of an Emmy-award-winning composer and arranger, she grew up in L.A. and signed to Om on the strength of a demo that would go on to become her debut single, "Rise." Her debut album, produced by Sebastian Arocha Morton, came in 2007, and in 2010 she followed up with Subconscious, coproduced by Morton and Kaskade.
