Forget any other band Hawley may have been involved with; on his second record he makes his case as an original talent. His baritone croon would easily lend itself to cocktail musings, but instead he jumps headfirst into lush pop songs filled with promise and longing. A strong, wistful album whose ornate Brit pop would bring most soccer hooligans to tears.
