The Real Testament
Label: Atlantic/Slip N' Slide
2007 may be remembered as the year of the "Shawty," and Plies' hit single perfectly embodies the RnB/hip-hop trend: pronouncements of love, threats of violence and a hook courtesy of Tallahassee's favorite auto-tuned son, T-Pain. It's the sort of song that feels familiar on first listen, and is instantly forgotten after the last. Plies repeats the sleaze with "Hypnotized," featuring noted polygamist/diamond miner/RnB singer Akon.
