À propos de Paper Tongues
Commercial rock has reached a point where certain strands of it are not particularly shy about at least attempting to incorporate influences from all across the popular music spectrum. Paper Tongues -- a seven-piece from Charlotte, N.C. -- are evidence of this. They've got two keyboardists, including a synth guy; their rhythmic foundation is hip-hop; they rap not much worse than they sing. So their sound can move from heavy funk rock to modern-day yacht rock, from Britpop to what used to be called nu metal. They use producers who specialize in pop-punk, Top 40 pop, crunk. And the mixture works well enough to have won them a few mid-level hits on alternative rock radio, where "Ride to California," "Trinity" and "Get Higher" all charted in 2009 or 2010.
