The young Bugg (dude is just 19) has all the makings of an English pop star: great hair, handsome face, fine threads and a knack for stylish tunes that make you think, "Wow, this kid can write a hook." His blend of folk and skiffle finds common ground between Deer Tick, Mumford & Sons and The La's. In other words, it's rootsy and acoustic-based, yet urban. Indeed, on tunes like "Slide" and "Note to Self," Bugg comes off like a young troubadour whose mind is filled with poetry and philosophy while wandering from coffeehouse to coffeehouse with notebook in hand and a guitar over his shoulder.
