Can't Sleep
Gary Clark Jr.
Nouveautés:

The Story of Sonny Boy Slim contains plenty of Clark’s fuzz-drenched fretwork -- jump to “Hold On” or the boogie-fueled “Shake” if that’s what you crave. Ultimately, though, the album is a deeply introspective affair showcasing his love for soul, funk and R&B. Darkness permeates nearly every tune -- it’s dense and moody, not unlike D’Angelo or Kendrick Lamar; “Grinder” is a standout delving into the desperation that accompanies poverty. The anomaly is the album-closing “Down to Ride,” which is nearly eight minutes of psychedelic soul that offers dreamy respite from the album’s darker hues.
