Bringing back old-school speed metal for a decade now (maybe as long as old-school speed metal lasted in the first place), these Swedish heshers race through delectably catchy choruses -- see "Destroyer" and "One With Fire" -- and ensure that fills, solos and shreds have memorable melodies attached. "The Banshee" comes out banging like Steven Adler-era Gn'R; "Farewell" comes out grieving like Cliff Burton-era Metallica. And the two six-minute arrangements, "Below the Slumber" and "Mask of Red Death," take some clever turns. But mainly, Enforcer still keep the times tight and tempos up.
