Rootsier than likeminded earth-mother-fronted acid-rock revivalists such as Blood Ceremony, this Sweden-based quartet often relaxes into gloomy-Sunday blues dirges blowing smoke rings at dusk while teenage French axe prodigy Dorian Sorriaux aims to summon heaven with his eyes shut. But when tempos pick up and drums turn tribal, they can rumble: "Jupiter" is some big-ass funk-wah-wah metal; "Devil Man" gets its Zep on; "Gypsy," about getting stuck in Kansas en route to Mexico, cooks crazier still. And gradually accelerating opening single "High Class Woman" has some economic resentment to air.
