Amour du sol
Label: Parlophone (France)
This dirty-talking French hipster had already melted the hearts of the American blogging community with a pair of singles -- "Je Veux te Voir" and "A Cause des Garcons" -- when this, her debut LP, arrived. Once you get past the soft-core sass, the tunes here are as light and snappy as bubble gum, helped by the production of GrandMarnier and a stylized '80s bent (including the occasional sax solo). The ballads are a bit of a chore next to the up-tempo sparkles, but all told, it's a tasty flavor-of-the-week.
