Though Sevendust aren't strangers to the unplugged experience (see 2004's Southside Double-Wide: Acoustic Live), Time Travelers & Bonfires still has the feel of a novel experiment from a band that specializes in loud and aggressive alt-metal. In addition to accentuating the blues roots lurking in the heart of the Sevendust sound, this collection of new originals and re-recordings shows off the group's instrumental prowess. A perfect example of the latter is the unique reworking of hit single "Black," on which guitarists John Connolly and Clint Lowery unleash some awfully deft picking.
