Star of stage and screen Lea Michele takes a stab at the pop charts with this cautious but quality-driven solo debut. Michele's voice is an amazing powerhouse of an instrument, of course: capable of soaring highs, formidable belts and even nuanced quiet. Unfortunately, fitting a voice like that into today's shimmering electro-pop landscape can be awkward. To put it another way: things get a bit too ... Broadway on tracks, like the high-drama "Thousand Needles" (or in lyrics like "my heart's too drunk to drive"). But for the most part, Michele performs the role of pop star with appeal.
