LCD's James Murphy may win the award for the '00s' biggest hipster, but this album proves, most improbably, that he's a hipster with a heart of gold. Irony and disaffection course through these mostly dance songs' frayed, bulbous and lumpy productions -- yet there's undeniable warmth here, and the beats are constructed with mucho TLC. It's all anchored by "All My Friends," a natural high as fluent in Steve Reich's cerebral looping technique as it is the language of a sweaty Brooklyn dancefloor.
