You'd think a dude who started tickling the ivories at (get this) 14 months would want to show off his formidable skills every chance he gets. Yet Kevin Kern has always been a master of understatement. In the Enchanted Garden, the pianist's debut album, fuses light classical, pop jazz and New Age into a contemporary instrumental offering that's simple, natural and, most of all, charming. Even the synthesized strings, performed by Kern, of course, feel warm and organic.
