A Fine Mess

We tend to expect angsty coffee shop rock from Kate Voegele. After all, she got her big break at a Michelle Branch concert and plays a recurring (singing) role on One Tree Hill. But while that element is there, the aesthetic that dominates Voegele's adult-alt is country. Maybe it's the layered, dramatic guitars, the slight twang in Voegele's husky voice (which has become less throaty and more dexterous since her debut) or the country waltz of "Sweet Silver Lining," but if things don't work out on the Hill, we think she could easily make a go of it in Nashville.
