David Crosby's liver is more famous than his larynx, but his voice was the honey in the hive of any band he graced. This long overdue box set plucks the ripest fruit from his musical family tree, focusing mostly on the Byrds and CSN&Y, as well as his solo works and longtime partnership with Graham Nash. One geeky gripe is that there are no songs from the Jet Set, a pre Byrds folk trio comprising Crosby, Jim McGuinn and Gene Clark. But the 11 minute demo of "Cowboy Movie" makes up for it, with Neil Young and Jerry Garcia swapping guitar leads -- easily the most epic song in the collection.
